About Book
The textbooks of physiology describe various biological phenomena in short precise paragraphs in a succinct manner. The students are seldom aware of the fact that behind the information described in one para of the textbook lies the hard work of dozens or more of our ancestors, each having spent a greater part of the lifetime to bring the knowledge one step forward. This book describes how our ancestors have helped us achieve the vast scientific knowledge of physiology we have today. Their endeavours have been self-less, and for which they often faced ridicule or even persecution. We are under their debt forever. I hope the book shall find favour with both postgraduate students in physiology as well as their teachers. Postgraduate students would not only learn about the role of famous ancient and modern physiologists but also find the book helpful in understanding the subject of physiology as a whole in greater depth. The teachers would find the historical stories and anecdotes useful to spice up their lectures.
